Thirty-One Fundraiser!!

The Lost Stork Foundation is having another fundraiser, just in time for Christmas! A consultant from Thirty-One is gracious enough to host a fundraiser event for us in which the Lost Stork receives 20% of the total sales prices. If we can sell $1,000 we'll earn $200 which is our goal.

The event is from November 23rd through Wednesday December 7th. Please visit this link to order. If the link doesn't work (it's given me problems on Facebook) then you can visit www.thirtyonegifts.com and search by our consultant, Debra Verneau in Georgia. Under her "My Events" link you'll see a link for the Lost Stork Fundraiser. Please use this "Shop Now" link to make your purchase to ensure that our organization receives the 20% donation.

If you make a purchase please note that your credit card will show a pending purchase until the fundraiser closes on December 7th. At this time your credit card will be charged and all orders placed during the fundraising period will submitted and ship within 10 days. Our fundraiser closes in time to receive all products by Christmas so please consider buying something to help us reach our goal. You can also help to spread the word! Below is the Thirty-One December Specials which you can receive by spending just $31 or more.

Featured Donor: Adopt Without Debt

Only 5 days left in our raffle! Last time I checked we hadn't sold any tickets for either raffle so please consider participating. We've got some great donations here!

Our next featured donor is Adopt Without Debt by Julie Gumm. Julie is an adoptive mom of 2 children from Ethiopia. Her and her husband budgeted their way through the adoptions and saved enough money to adopt debt-free.
The book includes over $80,000 worth of creative fundraising and budgeting ideas contributed from more than 30 adoptive families. They even list the fundraiser we're currently using, the Leaves of Love. It's a great book to check out and the price is budget-friendly!

Friendship Fundraiser Thursday?

I'm posting this on a Thursday night only because I can't figure out how to set a blog post up to be posted at a specific time. Since I'm in the midst of gathering lots of fundraiser info, I figured it would be best to go ahead and write this a day early than risk losing my creative streak :)

We're in the third day of our raffle with only 12 days left so please if you haven't bought a raffle ticket yet go ahead and sign up to win some great prizes! This week's Friendship Fundraiser Thursday will include some new fundraising ideas and resources that I found. I'll list those first.

Ordinary Hero
is a non-profit child advocacy organization. They also host adoption fundraisers where the recipient can receive 40% of the purchase price for items sold! There is no fundraising time limit and it does not cost anything to start a fundraiser.

Simply Love is another adoption fundraiser which was started by Kari from My Crazy Adoption. Products are purchased wholesale and your supporters will buy the products directly from you. You keep all of the profits. There are 10 exclusive graphic designs and 23 countries to choose from.

And now on to the fundraiser events:

Lydia from Upstream is having multiple fundraisers to raise money for her Uganda adoption, the most recent fundraiser is through Scentsy. Go check out her blog and consider buying some gifts for Christmas.

Room for At Least One More is selling unique postcards to raise money for her adoption. 9 postcards for only $10 is a great deal! Stop by and help her reach her fundraising goal.

The Happy Neills
is having a t-shirt fundraiser with The Hopeshirts to help pay for their adoption. Check out their blog and their really unique adoption announcement!

Christa is having a Leaves of Love fundraiser for friends and family. For each donation received a green thumbprint "leaf" will be added to her tree with the donor's name written along the edge of the leaf. Once the tree is full it will be framed and hung in the nursery.

Whitney from Whitney & Erik has an Etsy shop that sells photography prints in order to pay for their adoption. She is also a Stella & Dot jewelry seller. Check out both shops!

Megan from This Space for Rent has an Etsy shop that sells fertility-related t-shirts and onesies. She's raising money to help pay for IVF.

Maria at MISSION: Fertile Soul has got an Etsy shop that sells crochet bags to help pay for her upcoming international adoption.

Jess from A little blog about the big Infertility (and adoption too!) has an Etsy shop that sells her beautiful photography work.

Ashley from In My Own Words is having a puzzle piece fundraiser to help bring their child home from Ethiopia. Each puzzle piece purchased will have the donor's name written on the back. The completed puzzle will be displayed in their home. She also has a Just Love coffee fundraiser on her blog as well.

Are you trying to come up with a good fundraiser idea to help with your fertility treatment or adoption but can't think of one? Check out this article for adoption fundraising and this article for infertility fundraising.

If you're interested in participating in the Fundraiser Friday just send an email to Christa at christa@loststorkfoundation.org with your information and a link to your fundraiser. You can post links to your blog or Etsy shop as long as the fundraiser specifically states that it's for adoption or fertility treatments. Also spread the word so your friends and family can help you but also many others in similar positions!

Featured Donor: OldBarnRescueCompany

Our second featured donor of the Lost Stork raffle is the OldBarnRescueCompany on Etsy. OldBarn has graciously donated an adoption creed wall decal for our raffle. The winner will be able to choose any color they want from OldBarn's selection of over 60 colors. This is what OldBarnRescueCompany had to say about their company:

"We enjoy creating "wall art" applying our own unique flair with the use of vinyl graphics and up-cycled vintage materials.

In the fall of 2008, due to the popularity of Adonna’s hand-lettering, we began Old Barn Rescue Company's Wall Graphic Division here on Etsy. Wall graphics are one of the latest new trends in home d├ęcor. They look like they are painted right on the wall without the added cost of Adonna visiting your home to do it herself. Adonna has been a professional calligrapher for over 20 years and now you can enjoy her beautiful designs for a terrific price!

For those of you who have textured walls or love the value of reusing vintage materials, we can continue to offer our work on recycled wood as we have always done. You will now have the choice of hand-painted or cut lettering, depending on your preference and budget needs."

Now since Brandon and I are in the process of adopting a child ourselves, I decided to purchase my own wall decal from OldBarn. It turned out GREAT! I must add though, we had never done a wall decal before and it was a bit harder than we anticipated. It's just a huge decal and definitely not something you can try on your own. But the end result was so nice that I would certainly buy another or recommend it to a friend. Here are a few pictures of our wall decal installation.

Featured Donor: The Minus 1 Project

Our first featured donor for the Lost Stork raffle is Kelly from the Minus 1 Project. Kelly is a fellow adoptive mom who started the Minus 1 Project to raise funds for her Korean adoption. Her "Got Love? Adopt" products are awesome! I recently purchased a travel cup from her and it's really great. I use it all the time at work. Kelly has graciously agreed to donate an orange travel cup for the Lost Stork raffle.
You can purchase Minus 1 products from their store by clicking here. The Minus 1 Project also has a Facebook page which you can check out for giveaways and other events. Kelly is also willing to organize an adoption fundraiser for those who are interested in raising money for their own adoption. If you're interested please contact her at kelly.apisa@yahoo.com

Friendship Fundraising Friday Week 3

Things are moving along quite well with our Fundraising Friday. I figured we would have about 10 fundraisers on the blog at any given time. Once we get above 10 then the old and expired fundraisers will drop off one at a time. So here's the fundraisers for the week. I (Christa) am going through the adoption process and we have our own fundraiser going on so I figured I would share our fundraiser too.

Friendship Fundraising Friday Week 2

Friendship Fundraising Friday!

Adoption and infertility have their fair share of burdens...the most talked about are the financial burdens. Lost Stork Foundation was founded to help ease those burdens and hope to begin doing just that in the near future! Until then, we want to give everyone who is hosting their own personal fundraiser, specifically for adoption or fertility treatments, a common place to share their link and hopefully raise more funds so you can be just one step closer to your dream of parenthood!

Are you trying to come up with a good fundraiser idea to help with your fertility treatment or adoption but can't think of one? Check out this article for adoption fundraising and this article for infertility fundraising.

I'll start out this week by promoting some fellow blog friends' fundraisers:

Maria at MISSION: Fertile Soul has got an Etsy shop that sells crochet bags to help pay for her upcoming international adoption.

Jess from A little blog about the big Infertility (and adoption too!) has an Etsy shop that sells her beautiful photography work.

Ashley from In My Own Words is having a puzzle piece fundraiser to help bring their child home from Ethiopia. Each puzzle piece purchased will have the donor's name written on the back. The completed puzzle will be displayed in their home. She also has a Just Love coffee fundraiser on her blog as well.

So far we've received a few donations and we'll be providing additional information about those donations in the next few weeks. If you're interested in donating an item, please contact Christa at christa@loststorkfoundation.org. No donation is too small!

The Lost Stork Foundation Facebook page is also growing steadily. We're almost to 100 followers! Please stop by and check us out on Facebook and show your support. Spreading the word about our organization will allow us to raise money faster so that we can hopefully start accepting grant applications next spring.

Lost Stork Updates

Hello Everyone! It's been a while since we've updated but Meghan and I have been quite busy. Unfortunately we do not have many updates for the Lost Stork Foundation. We've had to put the "Strikes for Storks" bowling fundraiser on hold momentarily because there was an issue with a Missouri-based non-profit organization holding a fundraiser in Georgia. Though the mission of the Lost Stork Foundation is to provide financial assistance to everyone in the US, we had to register our organization with a state and that state was Missouri. So until we sort out the legal issues we've had to postpone our "Strikes for Storks" fundraiser.

But we're still hard at work trying to raise money for the Lost Stork Foundation. November is Adoption Awareness Month and we are working to put together two more raffles to raise money. This time we plan to hold a adoption-themed raffle for people going through domestic or international adoption as well as a general raffle for those people who wish to participate but aren't adopting. So check back in October for more information about the raffles and prizes we'll have.

If you're interested in making a donation for either raffle, please email Christa at christa@loststorkfoundation.org.

NIAW and a Raffle!

April has been a busy busy month for the Lost Stork Foundation! We are working to put together two bowling fundraisers in August, one in St. Charles, MO and one in Newnan, GA and will release more information as the plans get finalized. Meghan is also planning the yard sale for this weekend to benefit the Lost Stork. But the real reason for this blog post is to talk about National Infertility Awareness Week.

As many of you may know, NIAW is a movement that began in 1989 to help bring awareness about infertility to the general public. It usually occurs the third week of April and this year it is April 24-30th. National Infertility Awareness Week is very popular in the infertility community and is recognized with dozens of events across the nation. For more information about these upcoming events, please click here to visit Resolve's website.

The Lost Stork Foundation has decided to join in the celebration of this wonderful week with an infertility-related raffle. The donations from this raffle will benefit the Lost Stork Foundation and help bring us closer to our goal of reaching 501(c)(3) status!

We've received a ton of donations from various businesses to support this event. In fact, we received so many donations that we can offer THREE prizes to give away!

*Photos are of the prizes in hand. The ones not shown are downloaded prizes.

I'd like to give a HUGE thanks to all of the companies and individuals who donated items for our infertility raffle fundraiser. It was such a surprise to receive so much positive feedback from the infertility community. We truly could not have done this without your support! Thank you all!

A Blog is Born!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Lost Stork Foundation's new blog! If you've found your way over here from other blogs you may already know what the LSF is, but if you don't then I'd be happy to explain who we are.

The Lost Stork Foundation is a new non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and other resources to couples going through infertility treatments or adoption. The organization was started by Meghan and Charles Swann, a couple who struggled for years with infertility and who saw the need for an organization that provides both support and financial assistance for couples like themselves. The grants the LSF will be providing will help a wide range of the infertility and adoption community, including domestic or international adoption, embryo adoption and surrogacy. Because we are such a new organization we unfortunately are not accepting applications for grants at this time but the Lost Stork has BIG plans for 2011 to build its grant fund! But first things first.

Our immediate goal for this year is to obtain the ever-powerful 501(c)(3) status for the Lost Stork Foundation. While our organization is listed as a non-profit, it does not have this important status. Because of that it's been difficult to obtain significant donations from businesses and individuals. It's a lengthy and expensive process to gain the 501(c)(3) status but the Lost Stork Foundation has been working hard at it over the past few months. The paperwork is complete and ready for review by a lawyer but we still need to raise an additional $250 in order to file the paperwork with the IRS. It is our hope to have a 501(c)(3) status for the Lost Stork Foundation in the next 6 months. In order to do this we have planned a few raffles and fundraising events in the near future.

April 24-30 marks National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW), and events all over the country help to raise awareness about infertility. During this week the LSF will be holding a few online raffles to raise money for the organization. Donations have been pouring in from businesses and we feel truly blessed to have so much support! Once the gift basket(s) are put together we will post pictures and information about them so please check back for more details about our upcoming raffles!

The next big project for the Lost Stork Foundation is a yard sale that Meghan will be organizing in Missouri. This yard sale also happens to take place during National Infertility Awareness Week (how convenient!) which is only a few short weeks away. If you live in the Saint Louis, MO area and would like to volunteer or donate goods for the sale, please email us at info@loststorkfoundation.org for more details.

The LSF is also currently selling cookbooks on their website. The recipes in this cookbook have been donated from all over the world from people who have experienced or known someone who has experienced infertility. The cookbooks are selling for $10 each plus $3.85 for shipping so please visit the Lost Stork website if you would like to purchase one. They will also be sold at the yard sale if you're in the area and would like to buy one.

The Lost Stork Foundation is very excited and hopeful about the upcoming year. We would like nothing more than to help as many infertile and adoptive couples as we can. Your support means a great deal to us and we would appreciate it if you would help spread the word about our organization or make a donation if you can. This organization would not be possible without support from people like you!
